Is…… wait for it….. Interval Training!

There it is I said it… Interval Training. It is one of the most best kept secrets of the weight loss industry, they will do anything to keep you from knowing about it. I bet your thinking why on earth they don’t tell you about it huh? Well that’s exactly what I was thinking when I found out how powerful it was.

You see when it comes to losing weight and finding out how to become slim us girls generally like to have a good look in our favourite magazines to find out how so and so lost her baby fat after 2 weeks. Now as it turns out, after a week of “test driving” this new fancy fad diet, you actually feel worse than you did before you started!! So your like “screw this.. I need some real food”. Then the next diet comes along and its just a continuous cycle of fancy fad diets and no real results. This is what I did for years and wondered why on earth I wasn’t loosing any weight!!

And that is exactly the reason why they don’t tell you about the stuff that actually works because all they want to do is make money. What is Interval Training and why is it so good?

Interval training, as you may have heard, requires short bursts of “very intense” exercise, followed by “recovery” periods. (These “recovery” periods do not, however, require supportive meetings in church basements, bad coffee, or turning anything over to a higher power. Just gasping for air and cursing).

Here’s how it works:

After you’ve warmed up a bit, you go for it: you haul ass and go all out for a short period of time. How long? From about 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on your current fitness level.

So if you generally do brisk walking for exercise, then during this 30 seconds you would run. Or ascend a steep nasty hill at a fast pace. If you normally run, you would sprint. You get the idea.

Then, after you start to feel somewhat miserable, but before you actually die from exhaustion, you slow down again for another 30 seconds.

And you have to repeat this whole cycle around 8-1o times. Sounds grueling.. I know. But it really does work. All you have to do is try it and you will see.

Thanks for checking out my blog, If your wondering how to become slim then you’ve come to the right place.

First and foremost, I just want to clarify that I am by no means an expert in the ‘weight loss’ industry, I am just doing this to share my own personal experience on how I lost my weight. Below is a list of just some of the slimming tips and ideas that worked for me when I was figuring out how to become slim and lose weight. By putting some of these slimming tips into action you will be well on your way to fast weight loss.

  1. Interval Training – Interval Training is by far the best exercise you can do to burn belly fat. It is very intense but dont be afraid by that because you will be amazed by what you can do. Plus it only lasts about 15-20 minutes. That time flys.. trust me!
  2. Visualise your ideal figure – When you finally reach your goal,  How will you feel about yourself? What will you be doing? What will you be wearing? What clothes will be in your wardrobe?
  3. Don’t go on a diet – As in the previous article, successful slimming is going to be achieved by those tiny changes in your lifestyle. Plus who likes going on diets anyway?
  4. Don’t skip meals – Eating small frequent meals help to balance your calorie intake throughout the day and also keeps your blood sugar level balanced. Instead of eating 3 big meals, try to eat 5 – 6 smaller meals throughout the day.
  5. Change your lifestyle – This one is about awareness more than anything, make better choices when possible, instead of driving your car to the shops round the corner, walk with a friend or family member, it will be more fun anyway, think of all the fun things you can do along the way.
  6. Focus on yourself, not others – This is a big one, I used to do this a lot but then I realised it wasn’t helping me in anyway apart from making me feel horrible. Everyone is on their own journey the key is to focus on your own.
  7. Don’t restrict any foods from your menu – It is okay to enjoy small portions of any type of food on a limited basis. Don’t make yourself feel as if anything is off limits.
  8. Drink more water – We have all heard that we should drink around eight glasses of water a day. It keeps you hydrated and can help you feel less run down. But did you know that if you drank a full glass of water before your meals it could decrease your appetite
  9. Reward yourself - Give yourself a treat for each goal you accomplish. New clothes make a great incentive when you’re slimming! Plus it really helps your day to day life, you feel really good about yourself.
  10. Never ever ever ever give up! – Never give up on your goals because you will just be back to the place you started, I know it can be tough at times but that’s life, you just have to stick to what you set out to do and im sure you will do that or else you wouldn’t be here reading this right now!

When it comes to figuring out how to become slim, It all starts with making a simple decision to change your lifestyle and I know that’s not what you wanted to hear, I really didn’t want to hear that either but its true. See the thing is, if you just keep doing what you’ve always done, trying the odd diet every now and again, working out for a few weeks and stopping because ‘life got in the way’ then you will just keep getting the same results. You must make some changes. Your probably asking, What do I have to change?

Well what’s Your Lifestyle Like Right Now? Is it Active? Or do you find yourself spending more time in front of the TV like I did?

The reason changing your lifestyle is so important is because how you live determines your choices and these choices decide how healthy you are and whether you’re on the road to weight loss. So what is a healthy lifestyle? The typical components include not smoking, eating healthy foods, exercising and keeping the body at a healthy weight etc. Also you have to figure out how much time you spend doing the following:

•Sitting at a desk
•Sitting in a car
•Sitting in front of a TV
•Sitting in front of a computer
•Eating out at restaurants
•Drinking alcohol
•Eating fast food or junk foods
•Staying up late/not getting enough sleep

Now, how much time do you spend:

•Being active in general (taking the stairs, walking instead of driving, gardening, cleaning, etc.)
•Doing cardio exercise
•Strength training for all muscle groups with challenging weights
•Preparing your own meals and snacks and eating fruits, veggies and whole grains

Living healthy means spending time and energy on your body – moving it around and paying attention to what you put into it. I recommend you take some time to really evaluate the lifestyle choices above like I did because these small 1% changes in your life can make a massive difference on your quest to get slim.
